GG Alumni & Lab4All

GG Alumni will collaborate with the associations Orizzonte and SeedScience on the project Lab4All .

SeedScience is an NGO that works with science teachers in developing countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana and Uganda. Their mission is to provide local teachers with theoretical and practical knowledge to perform science experiments in class and promote students' engagement. By actively participating in the development of the experiments, students learn about global and local scientific issues, while developing their critical thinking and creativity.

Orizzonte is an association founded by students, graduates and young professionals, that promotes innovative and sustainable projects with high social impact potential in Rome and surrounding areas.

Born from the collaboration between these two associations, Lab4All is an annual competition  open to high school classes located in the Area Metropolitana di Roma. Within the competition, students have to design, develop and implement simple scientific experiments , which have to be low-cost, sustainable, and that can be transported in a small kit.

Every year a different topic is chosen for the experiments, and the topic of the 2020/21 edition will be "A scuola di Igiene" (Hygiene)  .

Through a hands-on approach, students improve their scientific competencies, while maintaining a focus on environmental sustainability and global inequalities. Indeed, at the end of the competition, the best experiments will be inserted in the SeedScience's portfolio and proposed to the students and teachers in the African countries where the association operates.

GG Alumni and Lab4All

By taking part in this project, GG students and alumni will have the opportunity to:

  1. Develop different types of contents addressing the topic "Hygiene and Sustainability" with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals and global inequalities.

  2. Produce a video  on the topic "Efficient Communication", to be inserted in a webinar series which will guide students and teachers throughout the competition.
